Chemical Endangerment Arrests
(Etowah County, Alabama) Two Etowah County women have been arrested for chemical endangerment of a child, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.
Investigator Bobby Bryant states, “Kristi Dyan Johnson, 29, of Rainbow City, is charged with one count of chemical endangerment of exposing a child to an environment in which controlled substances are ingested, produced or distributed, which is a felony.”
Johnson admitted to investigators that she took Roxicodone and Norco, which is a form of hydrocodone, and benzodiazepine during her pregnancy.
Casey Browning Shehi, 36, of Gadsden, is also with one count of chemical endangerment of exposing a child to an environment in which controlled substances are ingested, produced or distributed, which is a felony.
Investigator Bryant states Shehi tested positive for benzadiaxapin. She admitted to taking Xanax during her pregnancy.
Bond has been set at $10,000 for both Johnson and Shehi. They will each be supervised by Etowah County Community Corrections and must provide a negative drug test before being released on bond.
Both cases are also being worked by the Alabama Department of Human Resources in Etowah County.
