Royal Center – Last night, a narcotics investigation by Indiana State Police Trooper Ron Fisher resulted in the arrest of Jeffery A. Welker, 33, 7854 West State Road 16, Royal Center, IN. Welker was incarcerated in the Cass County Jail to face felony charges for maintaining a common nuisance, possession of marijuana over 30 grams (with a prior conviction), cultivating marijuana, and neglect of a dependent.
During the course of the investigation, Trooper Fisher developed probable cause and obtained a search warrant for Welker’s residence and property. When officers executed the warrant, they purportedly caught the unsuspecting Welker, and another person, smoking marijuana. During a search of the residence and property, officers allegedly found five harvested marijuana plants. They also located processed marijuana. Welker’s two children, ages three and 11, were also at the home. They were released into the care of their mother. A report was filed with the local office of child protective services.
This is an ongoing investigation. More arrests are possible.
