Sheriff’s Office to Host Job Fair for Inmates Returning to the Community
HARRIS COUNTY, TX – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office will host a job fair Thursday for inmates participating in inmate education programs.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office operates the largest jail system in Texas and the third largest jail nationwide. At any given time, the Harris County Jail houses approximately 8,500 pre-trial and post adjudication inmates serving short term sentences.
Sheriff Adrian Garcia is committed to using education to rehabilitate inmates and reduce recidivism amongst offenders. The Crites Street Vocational Training Center has been in operation for over thirty years. Houston Community College and its partners currently offer certification courses in auto body and mechanics, computer and information technology, building maintenance, construction, culinary arts, heating and A/C repair, leather craft, upholstery and welding.
A partnership with HCC, Goodwill Industries of Houston, the Houston Welding Academy and d-mars.com has made Thursday’s job fair for inmates possible.

A valid Texas Driver’s License must be presented upon entry. Security requirements allow recording equipment inside of the facility; all other personal property is prohibited. Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to allow for security screening.
