Head-On Crash Injures Two in Parke County

Parke County—This morning around 0730, Indiana State Police Master Trooper Gary Winters was on routine patrol in northern Parke County, when he drove upon a two vehicle crash on US 41 near County Road 750 North. Winters then radioed for EMS and additional police units.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 1996 Hyundai Accent, driven by 61-year-old Carol A. Arnold of Rockville, IN., was southbound on US 41 just south of CR 750 North and suddenly drifted left of center. The Hyundai then struck head-on, a northbound 2007 Toyota Camry, driven by 46-year-old Derron T. Connor of Rockville, IN.

Parke County EMS transported Carol Arnold to Union Hospital of Clinton for treatment of head injuries. Her injuries do not appear to be life threatening. Arnold was cited for driving left of center and no insurance.

Derron Connor was taken to Union Hospital of Clinton by a family member for complaint of pain.

Both drivers were utilizing seatbelts and airbags were deployed. Investigators believe Arnold traveled left of center due to fatigue.

The crash was investigated by Master Trooper Gary Winters. Assisting were ISP Troopers Ty Lightle and Tim Rader, Parke County Sheriff’s Deputy Steve Runyan, Parke County EMS, and Marshall Fire/Rescue Department.

Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
