Advisory

City to begin an improvement project that will affect many residential roads beginning 9/24. See email for details.

DEARBORN, Mich. – The City of Dearborn will begin an improvement project that will affect many residential roads beginning Wednesday, September 24.

Completion is expected in mid-October. The work is designed to help prevent potholes and pavement damage.

Roads will remain open while crews seal joints on the roadway, but vehicles cannot be parked on the street when work is taking place.

Streets will be impacted one at a time and parking restrictions only apply to specific streets when work is scheduled on a specific street.

The project will begin in residential areas in the City’s east end and move westward as streets are completed.

Signs advising that no parking is allowed will be posted along each street the day before crews arrive to fill joints and cracks in the roadway.

Once the signs are up, residents should not park in the street. It is anticipated that the parking restrictions would last one day for specific streets.

Joint sealing is a necessary maintenance procedure that can help prevent water from entering pavement layers. When water enters the pavement, it can freeze and expand in the winter, and cause potholes. Preventing water from entering the pavement can prevent those potholes.

Residents with any questions regarding the project should call the City of Dearborn Engineering Department at 313-943-2145.
