Advisory

***UPDATE*** Childcare will be provided at the Glendora City Library for the Town Hall Meeting Oct 2, 2014 (both sessions) 3 pm/6 pm

City of Glendora is hosting a Town Hall Meeting to follow up on last winter’s Colby Fire and storm activity, and to provide updates on the City’s preparation for the upcoming rainy season.  There will be two sessions on Thursday, October 2, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. and at 6:00 p.m.  Both sessions will be held in the Bidwell Forum, which is directly above the Glendora Public Library, 140 S. Glendora Ave., in Glendora.

Various City Departments along with representatives from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works (LACDPW), the United States Forest Service (USFS), Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACFD), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and United States Geological Survey (USGS) will address their continual preparation for the upcoming rainy season, as well as possible flooding/debris flow impact on Colby Fire Impact Area residents..

Updated information will be provided on the following topics:

*What “El Niño” is, what we can expect, and what the impact may be to the Colby Fire Impact Area.

*Survey updates and comparisons on the restoration of the vegetation in the foothills and changes in ground cover and water repellency.

*Update on the status of debris basins.

*Wildlife update in the Colby Fire Impact Area.

The Colby Fire Impact Area includes all properties north of Sierra Madre, from the western city boundaries of Azusa/Glendora (Yucca Ridge) to the eastern property boundaries on the west side of Little Dalton Wash (near Loraine Ave.).  These areas have the highest risk of being impacted by flooding/debris flows due to loss of vegetation from the foothills, a direct result of the Colby Fire on January 16, 2014.
