VICTIM: Withheld – 42 year old, female, Gilroy Resident
SUSPECT #1: Johnson, Tanika Billie, 38 year old female, Gilroy Resident
Details: On 09/20/2014, Gilroy Police Officers responded to the 300 Block of Welburn Avenue for a report of a possible stabbing. At arrival, officers located the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds to the upper body. Medical personnel arrived a short time later to render aid. The victim was transported to an area trauma center via air ambulance with life-threatening injuries. The victim is currently in critical condition, but expected to survive.
Officers were able to obtain a description of the suspect on scene and located her a short distance away. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
Preliminary information revealed that a verbal confrontation ensued prior to the assault. This investigation is ongoing and the motive for the assault is yet to be determined.
Johnson was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail where she was booked on attempted murder charges. She is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday September 24, 2014.
