SPEEDERS TARGETED BY PASADENA POLICE DEPARTMENT

On Friday, September 26, 2014, the Pasadena Police Department will conduct an enforcement program focused on speed and intersection violations. The operation will commence at noon and will continue through the afternoon hours.

Speeding is the third highest cause of traffic deaths and the number one cause of serious injuries on California’s roadways. The Pasadena Police Department is committed to reducing the number of traffic collisions and injuries resulting from excessive speed. The program has shown to be an effective tool in educating the public in regards to safer driving habits.

The types of violations seen at intersections – running red lights and signs, illegal turns, pedestrian right–of-way, rear-end-collisions – together account for more deaths and injuries on our roadways than any other single cause. The Pasadena Police Department ultimate goal is to enforce and educate the driving public at the same time reducing serious injuries and fatal collisions.

Funding for these programs is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
