UPDATE, September 18, 2014

West Nile Virus Update:

The Commission has received additional information indicating a continuing risk for the transmission of West Nile virus in Ocean Township and Tinton Falls. In response, the Commission will be conducting targeted adult mosquito control operations to knock down adult mosquito numbers and break the disease amplification cycle on Friday, September 19, 2014.

In response to information suggesting an increased risk of West Nile virus transmission, the Commission will be conducting an adult mosquito control operation in residential streets on

FRIDAY, September 19, 2014 between 7:00 pm and 12:00 midnight in the following areas:

1. OCEAN TOWNSHIP, Wayside area from Green Grove Road east to Bowne Road and bounded by West Park Avenue to the north and Asbury Avenue to the south.

The Commission will be using the product Duet or Zenivex applied using Ultra-Low-Volume equipment mounted on pick-up trucks. While the USEPA does not require special precautions to be taken, residents are advised to minimize exposure to the pesticide by staying indoors, keeping windows shut, closing the vent to outside air on window air conditioners and turning off window fans. Residents should also bring in pet food and water dishes and portable children's toys. Vegetables, fruits and herbs picked after operations should be washed prior to consuming.
