2 men arrested in early morning break-in.

On Friday September 19th at approximately 12:45am, APD officers on routine patrol observed a vehicle parked behind Sutherlands on S Washington. While officers were beat checking the area, they observed the vehicle was unoccupied and parked in an area that is hidden from the flow of traffic going down Washington. Officers checked the area businesses but could not locate any subjects prowling around. The officers decided to spot up on the vehicle in case the occupants returned. About two hours later at 2:45am, officers observed 2 male subjects riding up on a motorcycle and park in a nearby business. The occupants were stopped and identified. Further investigation lead officers to find that the suspects had crawled under a fence at Sutherlands and forced entry into an outbuilding where the suspects gathered items to steal. The suspects apparently saw the officers checking out their car and ran from the property only to return later to recover the car and stolen property. The suspects had loaded up cart with cabinets, a lawn mower and a window AC unit before being scared away. Due to the officer’s diligence by remaining on the scene and waiting for the criminals to return, two burglars were arrested. Richard David Hartman W/M 19 and Jesus Armando Valencia H/M 19 both of Amarillo were arrested and booked into the Randall County Jail on charges of Burglary of a Building.
