Young Passenger Airlifted After Crash
Clay County—This evening at 5:45, Indiana State Police and Clay County emergency agencies responded to a two-vehicle crash on US 40 at Harmony Road (CR 200E). The crash injured three motorists.
Preliminary investigation revealed a 2012 Ford Fusion, driven by 44-year-old Douglas Dickison of Cloverdale, Indiana, was westbound on US 40 and attempted to make a left turn onto Harmony Road (CR 200E). In doing so, Dickison turned into the path of an eastbound 2011 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by 62-year-old Scott Hilligoss of Reelsville, Indiana. The Hilligoss vehicle then struck the Dickison vehicle in the passenger side.
Douglas Dickison and his 14-year-old daughter Hannah Dickison, who was sitting in the passenger seat, were transported to St. Vincent Clay Hospital in Brazil. Hannah was later airlifted to Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment of internal injuries. Douglas Dickison was treated for rib and abdomen injuries. Scott Hilligoss was transported to St. Vincent Clay Hospital for treatment of arm injuries. Seatbelts were in use.
Douglas Dickison was cited for Failure to Yield the Right of Way.
The crash was investigated by ISP Trooper Ian Portteus. Assisting were multiple troopers from the Putnamville Post, Brazil Fire Department, Van Buren Township Fire Department, Trans Care EMS, and Clay County Search and Rescue.
Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
