Last week, the following Part 1 crimes occurred in Zone 5 (Valencia). 

A home invasion robbery occurred near the 26400 block of Emerald Dove Drive.  Two male black adults entered the victim’s backyard and waited for them to return home.  The female victim went inside the home while the male victim went to retrieve his trash cans from the curb side.   One suspect approached the male victim outside and ordered him back inside at gun point.  Both suspects entered the home and tied up the suspects inside the residence.  The suspects demanded cash and jewelry from the victims.   The suspects made the victims look outside as they ransacked the house, and stole jewelry and money from the victims.  The suspects walked outside and fled the location in an unknown vehicle with a very loud exhaust.   The victims freed themselves and were able to call the Sheriff’s Station.   This case is currently under active investigation. 

A residential burglary occurred near the 27900 block of Redpine Court.   The victim left her residence to take her dog on a walk.   She left her garage door open and her inner garage door to her residence unlocked.  When she returned home she saw her bedroom dresser drawer open and noticed her pearl necklace and 200 dollars in U.S. Currency missing.  No forced entry into the location was observed.     

A garage burglary occurred from the 24100 block of Victoria Lane.   An unknown suspect entered the victim’s garage and stole his “James Dakar XLT 3.0” mountain bike and a back pack containing a radio, flashlight and sleeping bag.   The victim’s garage was closed and locked.  No forced entry was made into the garage in the commission of this crime.  It is unknown how the suspect entered the location.   No suspect information is available at this time.  

This week we had a spike in shoplifting burglaries in the Valencia area.  We had seven total incidents of reported shoplifting.  Out of the seven total incidents 1 suspect was arrested.  In the six remaining cases no arrests have been made.  Three incidents are possibly related, involving the same suspects.  All seven of these cases are currently under active investigation by our station Detective bureau.  

A vehicle burglary occurred near the 26400 block of McBean Parkway.   An unknown suspect entered the victim’s vehicle and stole her 3^rd row seat to her 2007 Chevy Suburban.  No signs of forced entry into her vehicle were seen. 

A grand theft occurred near the 26800 block of Augusta Place.  The victim’s car was parked in the driveway of her home.  She was loading the trunk of her car with items from inside her residence.   She placed a box in her truck, and walked back inside to retrieve another box.  Once she returned, she noticed her first box was missing.  No further details are available regarding this case. 

A petty theft occurred near the 24200 block of Valencia Boulevard.   A female white adult 40-45 years of age selected a woman’s bag from the store shelf and walked to a remote part of the store.  The suspect then concealed the bag into a bag she brought into the store.  The suspect then exited the store without paying for the concealed item. 

A petty theft occurred near the 27900 block of Kelly Johnson Parkway.  The victim was placing her items inside her car from her shopping cart.  As she was doing this an unknown suspect stole her purse from her shopping cart.  The victim did not see anyone near her, or hear anyone in the area.   No suspect information is available at this time. 

It looks like we had a spike in crime in our area over this past week.  I want to make sure we all take the time to make ourselves hard targets and even tougher victims.   In your daily duties please take that extra minute or less to make sure you lock your car, lock your home, and hide all your valuables.  Taking the extra time in keeping yourself aware of your surroundings, and always on the lookout for potential problems will help you ensure your day goes as planned without any criminal ruining it. 

As a reminder, please do not leave valuables in plain view in your vehicles. Many incidents can be avoided if you take the time to ensure your vehicles are secure and your property is properly stored.  Always double check your windows and doors at night before going to bed.  Always remember your safety is number one and keeping your family safe is my number one priority.
