Task Force Agents locate a hidden compartment during traffic stop and arrest a Hayward man on multiple drug charges.

On August 29, 2014, agents from the Southern Alameda County Major Crimes Task Force (SACMCTF) were conducting surveillance in the City of Hayward.  During their investigation, agents observed the driver of a 1999 silver Honda Accord commit a traffic violation.  Agents conducted at traffic enforcement stop on Western Boulevard at Laurel Avenue, in the City of Hayward and made contact with the driver.

The driver was identified as Paul Monjardin-Perez, a 27-year-old adult male, Hayward resident.  During the contact, agents requested consent to search the vehicle, to which Perez agreed.  While searching the vehicle agents located a false compartment under the right front passenger seat. 

Agents opened the false compartment and located twenty clear plastic bags containing suspected methamphetamine, totaling approximately 191 grams (6.75 ounces/street value $15,280) and $1,398.00 in US currency.  The suspected methamphetamine was seized as evidence and the US currency was seized pursuant to asset forfeiture.  Agents also located two cellular phones and a pay/owe sheet in a notebook in Perez’s possession.  Perez was arrested for 11378 H&S (possession for sales of a controlled substance), 11379 H&S (transportation of a controlled substance) and 11366.8(a) H&S (use of a false compartment).

Perez was transported to the Santa Rita Jail, where he was booked for the above listed charges.
