Traffic Collision Causes Residents Of One Block to Lose Power

On 9-18-2014, at about 1:40am, Chula Vista Police Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of I Street on a report of a single vehicle traffic collision. Upon arrival, officers found a newer Nissan 4-door Passenger vehicle had collided with a wooden telephone/power pole. The Nissan's driver was not injured and arrested on suspicion of Driving Under The Influence. The telephone/power pole was completely severed but remained upright. SDG&E responded to the scene to evaluate and eventually repair the damaged pole. SDG&E estimates the power to homes located on the south side of I Street from Fifth Avenue to Broadway Avenue may be out up to 5:00pm tonight. Chula Vista Police Officers went door to door in attempts to notify all of the residents possibly affected by the power outage.
