LA County CHP Hit-and-Run suspect arrested in Boone County, Illinois after a routine traffic stop.

On July 13, 2014, at approximately 11:53 p.m., CHP West Valley Officers responded to a traffic collision with major injuries, which occurred westbound on the US-101 (Ventura Freeway), east of Sepulveda Blvd.

Upon arrival, officers determined a BMW collided with a Honda CRV, at a high rate of speed. Officers learned the driver of BMW fled the scene after the collision. Officers were able to identify the suspect as, Chauncey Alexander Hollis, a resident of LA County.

Officers forwarded this information to West Valley Investigator, M. Geller, who along with investigators from the Southern Division Investigative Services Unit, and the United States Marshalls Fugitive Task Force, filed a warrant for the arrest of Mr. Hollis, for violating California Vehicle Code section, 20001 (a) Hit-and-Run collision, resulting in injury to a person.

On September 16, 2014, deputies from the Boone County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle, which was being driven by Mr. Hollis. Deputies discovered that Mr. Hollis was wanted by the California Highway Patrol. As a result, Mr. Hollis was arrested and is awaiting extradition to Los Angeles, to face charges for the Hit-and-Run traffic collision.
