Detectives at the Alpine Sheriff's Station want your help in identifying and locating a man who approached a young girl and tried to lure her into his car.
Take a good look at the sketch included in this bulletin to see if you recognize the suspect, who is described as a white man with a thin build, about 40 years old with short brown hair.
It happened on Friday, September 12th around 4:00 p.m. in the 2000 block of Arnold Way. The girl's mother called the Sheriff's Department to report the incident on Monday, September 15th.
The 12-year old girl told deputies she was walking home from the Alpine Youth Center when a gray car pulled up alongside her. The driver gestured for her to approach the passenger side-door. The man also asked, "Where is your mom?" The girl got scared and ran to a nearby apartment complex.
The girl's eight-year-old brother was walking a few feet behind his sister and ran after her. They were hiding near a laundry room when a woman who lives in the apartment complex approached the children. The woman asked what was going on. The girl told her a man tried to lure her into his car.
Moments later, the gray car reappeared and drove near the woman and the children. The woman approached the car and asked the driver why he was trying to lure a girl into his car. The driver yelled expletives at the woman and drove away.
The suspect was driving a four-door car with a gray primer coat, similar to the one seen in the photo included in this bulletin.
