The HEAT is on! Temps in parked cars reach 125 deg. in minutes. Never leave a child alone in a car on a hot day.

The heat is on in San Diego County . We all love San Diego's beautiful weather. However, beautiful weather equates to hot sunny days this week.

The National City Police Department and the City of National City would like to remind the community to never leave children or pets unattended in parked vehicles. On average, 38 children die every year due to heat-related causes from being left unattended in a parked vehicle on a hot day. The temperature in a parked vehicle can easily rise to over 125 degrees on hot day - even with the windows left slightly open. Even the best of parents or caregivers can unknowingly leave a sleeping baby in a vehicle; and the end result can be injury or even death.
