Narrative:
Detectives with the Thousand Oaks Police Department are seeking the assistance from the public with identifying the suspect who committed two crimes in the city of Thousand Oaks on 08/25/14 and 09/09/14. Based on the similar circumstances, investigators are exploring the possibility that the crimes were committed by the same person.
The first incident occurred on 08/25/14 at approximately 6:30 PM. A teenage female was returning to her vehicle, in the parking lot to the rear of the shopping center in the 2200 block of East Thousand Oaks Blvd., when she was approached by the suspect. The suspect demanded money from the victim and, after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, he ran north through the shopping center toward Thousand Oaks Blvd.
The second incident occurred on 09/09/14 at approximately 4:10 PM. An elderly woman was returning to her vehicle in the parking lot of a business located in the 1800 block of East Thousand Oaks Blvd. The suspect approached the victim, stole her purse out of her hands, and then ran westbound on Thousand Oaks Blvd.
Surveillance video captured portions of both incidents (photos of suspect on 8/25/14 and video clips and photos of suspect on 9/9/14). The suspect is described in both incidents as a black male, 5’8” to 6’0” tall, slender to medium build and approximately 18-25 years of age.
