On 9/12/14, at approximately 12:17AM, officers from the Burlington Police Department responded to the area of Allen St. near Murray St. for a report of a male pointing a gun at another male. Upon arrival to the area officers located the male victim and found that he had been struck several times in the head. Investigation revealed that the suspects were a black male wearing a red jacket and a white female wearing dark clothing.
A short time later officers and members of the Burlington Street Crimes Unit located a male and female walking who matched the description of the suspects. After a brief foot pursuit the female suspect was apprehended and identified as Hannah E. Ackley. Ackley was found to have an active arrest warrant. Ackley was later arraigned in Chittenden Superior Court, Criminal Division for her part in the assault and robbery. Ackley was subsequently released from Court on Pre-Trial conditions of release.
The male suspect managed to elude police however investigation revealed that the male suspect’s identity was Khalif M. Jones of Burlington. Detective Corporal Dan Gilligan applied for and was granted a Search Warrant to search for Jones and evidence of the crime at Jones’ residence in Burlington. Jones was subsequently located and arrested without incident at his residence. Police also located Ackley at Jones’ residence, a clear violation of her recently ordered conditions of release.
Jones’ criminal history shows a conviction for Aggravated Assault Involving a Weapon on 8/24/14.
