#LASD #SCV Detectives Investigating Home Invasion Robbery in Valencia and Offer Some Crime Prevention Tips.
On Thursday, September 11, 2014, at approximately 8:30 pm, deputies assigned to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a call for service regarding a robbery. When deputies arrived at the 26500 block of Emerald Dove Drive in Valencia (city of Santa Clarita) they contacted two victims, a man and woman who reported a home invasion robbery had occurred.
When the victims arrived home from church, the female victim entered the residence, and the male victim went out a side door to retrieve his garbage barrels. Once outside, the male victim was confronted by two suspects. The suspect ordered the male victim to return back into his home, and the suspects detained the male and female victims while ransacking their home.
Both suspects fled the residence (unknown if on foot or in a vehicle) in an unknown direction. The suspects stole jewelry and an unknown amount of U.S. currency from the victims. Both suspects were described as male Blacks, 20 to 25 years old, approximately 6’00” tall, and weighing approximately 180 to 200 pounds. (ref - 11743)
There is no further information available at this time. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Detectives are continuing to actively investigate this incident. There is no indication that this incident is related to another Santa Clarita Valley robbery incident that occurred in the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 10, 2014.
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies have these tips and information they want to make sure residents are aware of, based on Los Angeles County-wide trends and information being collected and analyzed by Crime Prevention Unit (CPU) deputies:
- Criminals are now more likely to wear high-end suits, drive high-end cars and do a better job of blending into the areas they are victimizing. In one recent case of burglaries investigated by deputies, the thieves drove around a nice residential neighborhood in a Porsche Cayenne, Deputy Josh Dubin said, by way of example;
- Gangs are ignoring traditional racial and territorial divides, working together more cooperatively to victimize communities. Even gangs that have traditionally fought for turf are now focusing their efforts on crime as opposed to fighting amongst themselves;
- Deputies are asking the general public to not be hesitant about being suspicious, Dubin said. “Don’t be hesitant to think something is suspicious or the need to know what's occurring in your neighborhood,” he said. “If you see a suspicious car, jotting down a license plate and/or taking a picture and expressing your concern to the Sheriff’s Station is something that could help us catch criminals and send a message that they’re not welcome in Santa Clarita.”
Always call the local law enforcement if you see anything suspicious. “If you see something, say something.”
