Castaic and Val Verde, Zone 2, Public Safety and Crime Prevention Information. Snapshot 09/01/2014-09/07/2014.

The following crimes were reported in Zone 2, Castaic/Val Verde. 

The Sheriff’s Department Homicide unit is investigating the murder of a Castaic man.  The Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey released the following…

An assault was reported from the 2700 block of Church Street.  During an argument between a father and son, the witness (mother) said the father swung an axe in the son’s direction.  According to the son, who stated he was in fear for his mother’s safety, he sprayed his father with pepper spray.  The father was arrested by responding deputies. 

A theft and assault was reported from the 30000 block of San Martinez.  After being caught with a bottle of liquor in her pants, a patron retuned the liquor and left the store.  Several hours later, the suspect returned and entered the store again.  After realizing she was now being watched, she punched another patron and ran out of the store.  Responding deputies arrested the suspect a short time later. 

A commercial burglary was reported from the 30000 block of Sloan Canyon.  A tool shed was broken into and an air compressor was stolen.  

A vehicle theft was reported from the 32000 block of Castaic Road.  A 2011 red and white Kawasaki jet ski was stolen. 

A petty theft was reported from the 31000 block of Parker Road.  A lady left her purse at the location.  One hour later after realizing it, she returned only to find it was gone.  An I.D card, Wells Fargo bank card, Social Security card and $223 U.S. currency were in the purse at the time.
