Drug Dealer Arrested
Juan Nunez, age 49, of Goleta, was arrested for possession of cocaine for sale, possession of methamphetamine for sale, and possession of a firearm in the commission of a drug offense.
In recent weeks detectives from the Santa Barbara Police Department’s Narcotics Unit developed information that Nunez was selling cocaine and methamphetamine in Santa Barbara and Goleta. Their investigation culminated with detectives obtaining a search warrant for Nunez’s apartment on the 400 block of Ellwood Beach Drive and serving it on the morning of September 11, 2014 with the assistance of investigators from the Santa Barbara Regional Narcotic Enforcement Team.
At 6:50 a.m. Nunez was detained when he exited his residence, en route to work. He was searched and was found to be in possession of 11 bindles of methamphetamine and 8 bindles of cocaine. Detectives then searched his apartment and found additional drugs and over $8,000.00 in cash believed to be proceeds from drug sales. Stored in close proximity to the drugs in the residence were two handguns, a 9mm pistol and a .45 caliber pistol, and ammunition. In total, 1.75 ounces of cocaine and 5.4 grams of methamphetamine valued at approximately $1800.00 were seized.
Nunez was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on the aforementioned charges with a bail amount of $50,000.00.
