Gang Members Sentenced for Drive-By-Shooting
On July 19, 2013, at approximately 4:35 PM, officers from the Torrance Police Department responded to a shooting that had just occurred at 1645 Arlington Avenue in the City of Torrance.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the driver of the victim vehicle had suffered a gunshot wound from an unknown assailant in another vehicle. The suspect vehicle had been following the victims from the area of Carson Street and Western Avenue. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for a non life threatening injury.
Torrance Gang Detectives were able to identify Carlos “Flaco” Hernandez, 27 years, from Gardena as being the shooter, and Jesus “Triste” Reyes, 21 years, from Torrance as being the driver. Multiple charges of attempted murder were filed against Hernandez and Reyes. Hernandez took a plea for 37 years in state prison and two strikes as a result of gang enhancements. Reyes took a plea for 22 years in state prison and one strike as a result of gang enhancements as well.
