Detectives charge man in connection with break-in and thefts at five Nebo homes

Detectives Billie Brown and Andy Manis of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Russell Eugene Jackson, 40, who is homeless, with one felony count each of burglary and larceny and five counts of misdemeanor larceny.
Jackson is charged in connection with the following cases:
-- The theft of a weed trimmer and a chainsaw, worth a total of $500, from the property of Jeffrey Hess, of U.S. 70 East in Nebo, on Aug. 18
-- Also on Aug. 18, the theft of a shovel and a hoe, valued at $40, from the home of John Wilson, of U.S. 70 East in Nebo
-- Taking a tag from a vehicle belonging to Brent Elliott, of Calvin Drive in Nebo, on Aug. 21. The $28 tag was recovered.
-- A break-in at the residence of Dean Patton, of Patton Valley Drive in Nebo, on Aug. 23 and the theft of a $400 chainsaw. The chainsaw was recovered.
-- On Aug. 27, the theft of a Honda four-wheeler, worth $300, from the property of Roy Hudson, of Muddy Creek Road in Nebo.
-- On Aug. 28, taking a window air conditioner unit, valued at $150, from the home of Hess, who was also victimized on Aug. 18. The air conditioner was recovered.
The detectives stated that Jackson was acquainted with most of the victims.
