Alert

SCAM ALERT- A person claiming be to be of the Sheriff's Office is leaving msgs to call him. The number is fraudulent.

Someone claiming to be from the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office called a woman claiming to be a Sergeant from the "Santa Fe County Sheriff's Department" and advised her to call him at a number. The message sounded odd so she did the right thing by looking up the listed information for the actual Sheriff's Office. We then advised her that the number left on her message was not a valid number. We proceeded to call the number left on her message and a recorded message saud that they were the "Sheriff's Department" at an address on Rodeo Rd and if the call was an emergency to call 911 or if you were calling about a warrant to leave your name and number and a deputy would call you back.

For one we DO NOT have an office on Rodeo Rd nor would we have a message with only one option offering questions about warrants.

We suspect this is a scam similar to one in the past which advises a person of the public that they have a warrant for their arrest and they could clear it by paying a fee over the phone. DO NOT CALL THEM BACK OR LEAVE ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION ON THEIR VOICE MAIL.
