Corporal Larry Koebcke is Retiring

Lowell-Sadly, it’s time to say good-bye to Corporal Larry Koebcke who is retiring after twenty-nine years of dedicated service to the Indiana State Police and to the communities he has served.

Koebcke is a native of Valparaiso, and graduated Valparaiso High School in 1981. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1981-1985. He graduated from the Indiana State Police Academy in November, 1985 and was assigned to the Lowell District where he patrolled Porter and LaPorte Counties. He has also attended Ivy Tech and Indiana University Northwest studying Criminology

Koebcke was reassigned as a detective in 1991 and investigated cases in Lake, Porter and LaPorte Counties. In 1995 he was promoted to Sergeant as a Polygraph Examiner and attended Backster Lie Detector School for seven weeks in San Diego, California. Upon returning Koebcke had to perform 100 polygraph tests with a certified polygraph examiner before he was certified to be on his own. Koebcke spent 18 years as a polygraph examiner and conservatively performed 2,500-3,000 criminal and applicant polygraph tests. He was the polygraph examiner for the Lowell District (which consist of Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Newton, Jasper, Pulaski and Starke Counties, Bremen District (which consist of Saint Joseph, Elkhart, Marshall and Kosciusko Counties) and Lafayette District (which consist of White, Benton, Carroll, Warren, Tippecanoe, Clinton, Fountain and Montgomery Counties).

Koebcke became district duty officer in 2013, overseeing various line command and administrative duties at the Lowell Post. He was also a Field Training Officer, Tactical Intervention Platoon, and Hostage Negotiator.

Corporal Koebcke is going too far once he retires he has been accepted to the Indiana State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division as a civilian Motor Carrier Inspector and will start training shortly.

Koebcke resides in Porter County with his family.
