A parade permit has been issued for September 6, 2014 to Brandon and Heather Waters for the “Light the Night 5K Run/Walk" fundraising event for Liberty Christian Academy. The road race starting at 8:00 pm and will last approximately an hour and a half. This is a unique event in that the runners will be wearing glow sticks and glowing paint as they run during the nighttime hours. The participants will be proceeding through a number of city streets so please be mindful of runners and walkers when traveling in town during on Saturday evening.
5K Race Route: The race will start from the parking lot of McNair Field on McNair Drive. Runners will turn left onto West Main Street and will precede in an eastward direction though Downtown Forest City. The runners will turn right onto Magnolia Street, a right onto Arlington Street and merge onto Old Caroleen Road. From there runners will make a left onto South Broadway Street, a right onto Oak Street, a right to South Church Street, a left back onto Main Street and a right back to McNair Drive for the finish.
Drivers should use the utmost caution when traveling on these roadways in and around the time of the road race.
