One Injured in Brownsville Shooting-CORRECTION

Union County – At 8:45 p.m. Friday evening Union County Dispatch advised they had a report of a male down with a gunshot wound in Brownsville, a small town in northern Union County. A trooper arrived shortly after the report to a residence at 106 N. Main St. in Brownsville to find a man with a gunshot wound.

First responders were called to the scene and ISP was originally told the victim, Brandon Wicker of the 106 N. Main address, had succumbed to his injuries. Early this morning we learned that Wicker had survived his injuries, but is in grave condition at Miami Valley Hospital in Ohio. The man investigators believe is responsible for the shooting, Burt McQueen, age 42, was taken into custody at the scene.

Preliminary investigation is that the two men were consuming alcohol in the home when an argument started between the two that led to the shooting. McQueen was lodged in the Union County Jail on a preliminary charge of Attempted Murder.

Investigators were hampered at the scene all night by the lack of cell phone service in the area, and we apologize for the misinformation.
