Officers of the Gang Violence Suppression Unit attempted to stop a subject in the 600 block of E. Sixth Street when he immediately fled on foot. Officers chased the subject through several back yards and across a main thoroughfare before ultimately contacting him in the back yard of a residence in the 400 block of E. Fourth Street. As officers approached they saw a handgun in the subject's waistband. A taser was deployed and the subject was taken into custody without further incident. A .45 caliber handgun was recovered from his person, along with a personal use quantity of narcotics. The suspect was treated at a local hospital and booked in the Pomona Jail on several felony charges.
