The Rutherford County Relay for Life event scheduled for tonight from 6:00 pm to 12:00 am at Charles Summey Park, Forest City, NC.
Those traveling on West Main Street from Marshall Street to McNair Drive and Vance Street to Leaning Parkway should anticipate higher than normal traffic flow and traffic delays due to the event.
Parking: Those attending tonight’s Relay for Life event will be allowed to diagonally park along Learning Parkway just below Education Avenue to Vance Street while parking exists along the roadway.
The traffic flow for tonight’s event will be for the attendees to enter from Vance Street to Learning Parkway to Education Avenue to Marshall Street to West Main Street. Vehicles will not be allowed to enter from Marshall Street.
Overflow parking and those choosing to ride the shuttle buses may park in the parking behind Cool Springs gym and the parking area at McNair Field. Memorial Drive (the road behind the cemetery adjoining the parking lots) will be one-way traffic only for those vehicles heading from McNair Field toward Vance Street. There will be pickup and drop off points clearly marked for the event at each parking lot area.
There will be no event parking on Learning Parkway above Education Avenue (to include Forest City Dunbar School parking lot and the roadway leading up to the baseball fields.) Only Relay for Life members with a parking pass will be allowed to park in the Forest City Dunbar Elementary parking lot.
Handicapped parking will be in the parking lot just off of Education Avenue. This is the parking lot Southwest of the park restrooms.
