Two Gas City Men Arrested on Steroid Charges

Gas City – Wednesday, a nine month long criminal investigation into the distribution and use of anabolic steroids, by Indiana State Police Detective Josh Maller, resulted in the arrests of James Poulson, 37, and Robert Davis, 37, both from 305 East South “B” Street, Gas City, IN. They were incarcerated in the Grant County Jail. Poulson faces felony charges for dealing a scheduled I controlled substance, possession of a scheduled III controlled substance, possession of a syringe, maintaining a common nuisance, and invasion of privacy (with a prior conviction). Davis faces felony charges for dealing a scheduled III controlled substance, possession of a scheduled I controlled substance, and possession of a syringe.

During the course of the investigation, officers utilized a myriad of surveillance techniques. They developed enough probable cause to be issued Grant Superior Court I search warrants for Davis’ and Poulson’s residence, along with a storage locker Poulson utilized. During the execution of the warrants, officers allegedly found a hand gun, schedule III narcotics (steroids), prescription medication, and syringes. Officers also purportedly found what they believe to be a combination drug of ecstasy (a scheduled I controlled substance) mixed with another narcotic, usually methamphetamine. It is commonly known as “Molly” on the streets. Lab test are pending to verify all of the narcotics confiscated.

This investigation was initiated by a tip from a concerned person. The Indiana State Police encourages anyone with information about the possession, distribution, or manufacturing of illegal narcotics to call the Indiana State Police Drug Hot Line at 1-800-453-4756. Detective Maller was assisted in this investigation by officers from a task force led by the Drug Enforcement Administration, ISP First Sergeant Bob Burgess, Master Trooper Gary Shenefield, Detective Andy Renbarger, Trooper Chuck Meyer, Detective Josh Rozzi, and the Grant County Prosecutor’s Office.
