Advisory

September is National Preparedness Month!

Emergencies and Disasters can happen anytime and anywhere. It can be anything from an earthquake to a windstorm to the loss of technology, all of which can have a devastating impact if you are not properly prepared.

Periodically throughout the month, we will be sending preparedness activities to help remind and assist you in your planning process. There is a National Campaign called “30days30ways.” You can find them on Facebook and Twitter @30days30ways. With kids heading back to school, here is one planning activity to ensure your children are prepared. If you don’t have kids, we encourage you to participate and donate the items!

Activity 1: Kit for the Kid

  • Disposable rain poncho
  • Assorted waterproof band-aids
  • Emergency phone numbers on the back of my business card
  • Pencil and small notebook
  • $5.00 in $1.00 bills
  • Light stick
  • Energy bar
  • Whistle
  • Water bottle (one with a large opening so all items can be stored in it)

You can share your activities by posting to our Facebook and Twitter accounts @TorranceOES and @30days30ways!

Happy Planning!
