Sheriff’s Office to Support Partnership for Juvenile Trafficking Victims

HARRIS COUNTY, TX – Houston and Harris County have long been recognized as hubs for international and domestic human trafficking. With many of the region’s resources dedicated to combating international human trafficking, victims of the domestic sex trade often lack access to resources, treatment and counseling.

The Harris County Juvenile Probation Department (HCJPD) will join Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia Wednesday to announce the formation of a new partnership focused on improving therapeutic and social outcomes for girls who are survivors of, or at risk of becoming victims of human trafficking. The HCJPD and HCSO are joined by the 315th District Court who together are working with the community to provide meaningful intervention services for girls referred to the Growing Independence Restoring Lives Court (GIRLS Court).
