Chula Vista Police Pursue Armed Robbery Suspect

On 9-2-2014, at about 9:30pm, Chula Vista Police Officers responded to an armed robbery near the Kmart in the 800 block of East H Street. The Reporting Party stated the suspect was confronted in the parking lot after being suspected of stealing numerous items. When confronted, the suspect displayed a hand gun to the Reporting Party in a threatening manner and left in a maroon van with disabled plates. The suspect left the parking lot onto East H Street.

A short time later, a Chula Vista Police Lieutenant saw the maroon van getting onto 805 North from East H Street. Officers attempted to stop the van in San Diego and the driver failed to yield. The suspect lead Chula Vista Police on a lengthy pursuit through various portions of San Diego. Officers from the San Diego Police Department assisted by placing spike strips in the path of the van. The San Diego Police Helicopter ABLE also assisted in the pursuit which terminated in the parking lot of the San Diego Police Headquarters near downtown San Diego. The suspect exited the van in a wheelchair and failed to follow commands by the Officers on scene. The suspect was possibly armed with two handguns during the pursuit.

The Chula Vista Police K-9 Unit was deployed on the suspect in the parking lot and he was taken into custody without further incident.
