The driver of a pickup truck traveling west in the eastbound lane of 1-40 near Henryetta Monday morning has been identified. Jesse Castillo Jr. (d.o.b. 1/4/1969), of Seminole, Texas, refused to stop his vehicle when numerous officers attempted to pull him over. A Creek Nation Lighthorse officer shot at the vehicle. The vehicle crashed into a ditch near mile marker 237. Castillo was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. A female passenger was transported to the hospital. She was treated and released. The Okmulgee County District Attorney requested OSBI investigate the officer-involved shooting. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will rule on the cause and manner of death upon completion of an autopsy. That report will be included in the prosecution report OSBI will deliver to the District Attorney. The D.A. will determine whether the shooting was justified.
