The North Brunswick Police Department along with the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office are investigating a homicide that occured during the early morning yesterday on Schmidt Lane. The following press relaease was issued:
Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Director Kenneth McCormick of the North Brunswick Police Department announced that police are investigating the death of a North Brunswick man who was found this morning after he apparently was fatally shot in his home.
Brian Hoey, 43, of Schmidt Lane in North Brunswick was pronounced dead at his home at 1:54 a.m.
The results of an autopsy being performed by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office were not immediately available, but it appeared the victim had been fatally shot.
Detective Robert Powell of the North Brunswick Police Department and Detective Gregory Morris of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office began the investigation after police were called to the victim’s home at the Belcourt Townhomes at Hidden Lake at 1:26 a.m.
No arrests have been made, but the investigation is active and is continuing.
