Sheriff's Office Offers CrimeMapping Information

Modesto, CA – The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office has joined many other law enforcement agencies nationwide by partnering with The Omega Group and implementing CrimeMapping. “We believe that sharing information with the public, promotes a healthier, safer community”, said Sheriff Adam Christianson. “We want the public to be informed about what’s happening in their communities and join us in our crime prevention, neighborhood watch efforts”.

CrimeMapping allows anyone with Internet access to view calls for service in a mapping format, view data by address, select crime types, generate reports and sign up to receive free crime alerts.

The Sheriff’s Office provides policing services to four of the nine incorporated cities in Stanislaus County. Riverbank, Patterson, Hughson and Waterford are policed by the Sheriff’s Office through contract police services and are also part of a regional policing model that includes radio communications and Computer Aided Dispatch systems in partnership with Stanislaus Regional 911.

Residents in those “contract cities” are also able to see crime data using CrimeMapping. All four of those cities are linked on the Sheriff’s Website, making it easier for users to find data specific to their respective community.

Creating more self reliance among community members is a great benefit to community oriented policing efforts everywhere and has been proven effective in combating crime.
