MEDIA ADVISORY – DEATH INVESTIGATION
INDIANAPOLIS - At approximately 12:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Elder Avenue on a report of a badly burned body behind a house. When officers arrived, they discovered an unidentified female body suffering from apparent signs of fire trauma. The victim has not been positively identified and will be positively identified by the Marion County Coroner’s Office.
Detectives were told that an uninvolved homeowner was walking his dog and made the discovery in his backyard. Detectives do not believe the victim was killed at the location she was found, rather they believe that the victim was killed elsewhere and brought to the location where she was found. An official cause and manner of death will be determined by the Marion County Coroner’s Office after an autopsy has been performed expected to be sometime Tuesday.
Detectives canvassed the area, and the Marion County Coroner’s Office processed the crime scene for evidence. Detectives encourage anyone with information to call IMPD at (317) 327-3475.
