On August 30, 2014, at 3:35 PM, officers responded to a motor vehicle vs. two motorcycles crash on the access road in the 6200 block of Canyon E Way (I-27). Witnesses told officers that two motorcycles were traveling southbound at a high rate of speed on the access road. A blue Toyota Camry was also traveling sound bound on the access road in the 6200 block of Canyon E Way. One of the Harley Davidson motorcycles struck the rear of the Camry. The second Harley Davidson motorcycle struck the first motorcycle and slid out of control. The driver of the first motorcycle was later identified as Thomas Mitchell Moore age 33. He died from injuries at the crash scene. The second motorcycle rider left the scene in a private vehicle before being interviewed. The driver of the Camry, Jimmie Ray Goodman, and his passenger Leona Goodman sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital. Justice of the Peace Houdashell was called to the scene and ordered an autopsy. The driver of the second motorcycle was later located at a home in S. Amarillo. He was transported to a local hospital and released pending investigation. Traffic investigators are attempting to determine if alcohol was a factor in this incident.
