Suspect captured after fleeing police custody from the Hospital.

On August 30, 2014 at about 8:13 P.M. officers from the Simi Valley Police Department responded to the scene of a “hit and run” traffic collision (non-injury) in the area of Madera Rd. and Royal Ave. While officers were en-route, additional information was received that citizens were physically detaining the suspected hit and run driver in the area of the 24 Hour Fitness, 1352 Madera Rd.

Officers arrived at the scene and found citizens had detained the suspected hit and run driver who was also showing signs of intoxication. Investigation at the scene led the officers to arrest Patrick Bowman (DOB 08/15/85 – residing in Thousand Oaks, CA) on suspicion of misdemeanor hit and run and DUI.

Bowman was observed to have minor injuries at the scene but was unclear in stating whether he was injured during the traffic collision or when he struggled with the citizens who detained him. He was transported via ambulance to the Los Robles Medical Center for treatment of his injuries and for additional investigation into the DUI charge.

SVPD Officers also discovered that Bowman was on parole for Burglary. Additionally, Bowman's license was suspended for a prior DUI.

While Bowman was being treated at Los Robles, he managed to run from the hospital with Simi Valley P.D. officers in foot pursuit. He disappeared into the neighborhood east of the hospital and a perimeter was established with the assistance of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department. The resulting search in the area with additional assistance from a Los Angeles Police Department Helicopter did not lead to Bowman being located.

Once the perimeter and search was called off, a Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputy patrolling the area located Bowman and he was once again taken into custody. He was taken to Los Robles Hospital for medical treatment and, once cleared by E.R. Staff, Bowman will be taken to the Ventura County Jail for booking on the following charges:
*23152(a) V.C. – DUI
*20002(a) V.C. – Hit and Run
*836.6(a) P.C. – Escape from custody
*3056 P.C. - Parole Hold
