On Friday, August 29, 2014, at approximately 5:30pm, deputies from the Sonoma Valley substation, along with medical personnel, were dispatched to a fight outside the Valley of the Moon Teen Center in Agua Caliente. Upon arrival, deputies discovered medical personnel performing life-saving measures on a male victim.
The victim was transported to the Sonoma Valley Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The victim was identified as Mario Zamudio Perez, age 25, from Sonoma Valley.
Detectives from the Sheriff’s Violent Crime Investigations and Crime Scene Investigations units responded to assist with the investigation. The investigation revealed the suspect was Joshua Javier Gonzalez, age 19, also from Sonoma Valley. The suspect was later located and taken into custody.
An autopsy is scheduled for next week to determine the manner and cause of death.
Gonzalez was booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility for Involuntary Manslaughter. Gonzalez is being held on $25000 bail and is awaiting arraignment.
