Troopers Investigate Fatal Crash on I-69
Pike County – This afternoon at approximately 4:55 p.m., Indiana State Police responded to a single vehicle crash on I-69 near the 40 mile-marker that killed a 21-year-old Cannelburg woman.
Preliminary investigation revealed Emily Lengacher, 21, of Cannelburg, was driving her 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt northbound on
I-69 near the 40 mile-marker when the right rear tire blew out causing her to lose control. Lengacher’s vehicle entered the median, rolled several times and came to a final rest on the shoulder in the southbound lanes. Lengacher was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected during the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Pike County Coroner. The southbound lanes were closed for approximately one-hour while troopers investigated this crash.
