The Los Banos Police Department maintains crime statistics as part of the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) and the first six months of this year’s statistics are listed below. The report indicates an overall 14.75 percent reduction in crime as compared to 2013; and an overall 30 percent reduction when compared to 2012.
During the first six months of 2014, the Department saw an increase in the rape, robbery and aggravated assault categories.

We encourage residents to get involved and call the Police Department when they notice suspicious behavior and to provide information about criminal activity. We provide example after example in our news releases of what we can accomplish together; our goal is to have Los Banos be Central Valley’s leader in police/community cooperation in crime reporting, and we are well on our way.”

The Police Department continues to use social media groups such as Nixel, Facebook, and Twitter, as a means of reaching the public with important crime information and news releases. Crime mapping is available on our web site as a means of keeping the public informed about crime in their neighborhood. The Department also offers a wide range of opportunities to report crime such as anonymous email, telephone tip lines, and Crime Stoppers, which pays money for crime tips.
