Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over: JPD increases patrols over Labor Day Weekend

The Janesville Police Department will be out in force along with many other law enforcement agencies throughout Wisconsin for the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” crackdown on drunken drivers during Labor Day weekend. Extra patrols are funded through a grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Safety.

Drunken driving deaths are entirely preventable. Yet, 185 people were killed and nearly 2,700 injured in alcohol-related traffic crashes in Wisconsin during 2013. Drunken driving continues to be prevalent, persistent and deadly on city streets and rural roads throughout Wisconsin.

The devastating consequences of a drunken driving arrest include expensive penalties, mandatory installation of an ignition interlock device on all your vehicles, and possibly jail time. The Janesville Police Department encourages you to drink responsibly and to never operate a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
