Two Vehicle Crash Leaves One Dead

Tippecanoe County-Yesterday afternoon at approximately 4:29 p.m. on I-65 northbound north of the 182 mile marker (that is four miles north of SR 43 exit number 178) in Tippecanoe County, a SUV collided with a semi sending one to the hospital with serious injuries.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper David Vido has revealed that a white 1998 Isuzu Trooper was northbound passing a white 2004 International semi registered to Kennesaw Transportation LLC out of Rydal, GA and driven by Corey R. Browning 35 from Covington, GA. The International was pulling a 2012 Utility Trailer loaded with Hostess Foods going to Shorewood, IL. The Isuzu then pulled in front of the semi then went off the roadway on the right. The semi changed lanes and moved to the left lane to try and avoid the Isuzu. The driver of the Isuzu then cut back across the interstate and drove under the right rear portion of the semi trailer. The trailer then ran over the front of the Isuzu and the semi came to rest about 900 feet from the point of impact. The Isuzu rotated around and came to rest on the right emergency lane.

Browning was not injured in the crash. The driver of the Isuzu Michael E. Snodgrass 52 of Pinellas Park, FL was extricated from the vehicle by members of the Battleground Fire and Rescue and transported to to IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette where he succumbed to his injuries. The family has been notified. Alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash with the driver of the Isuzu testing .29 % B.A.C.

I-65 was down to one lane northbound for about two and one half hours for cleanup, re-construction of the crash and removal of the vehicles. The semi trailer sustained about $3,000.00 damage but was driven away from the scene. The Isuzu was a total loss.

Assisting at the scene was Troopers from the Lafayette Post, Battleground Fire and Rescue, Tippecanoe County EMS and the Tippecanoe County Coroner.
