Head-On Crash Seriously Injures Vincennes Man

Head-On Crash Seriously Injures Vincennes Man

Knox County – Shortly after midnight, Indiana State Police and Knox County Sheriff’s Department responded to a single vehicle crash on Lower Fort Knox Rd that seriously injured a Vincennes man.

Preliminary investigation revealed Cameron Gillingham, 22, 1625 N. 6th Street, Vincennes, was driving his 2003 Pontiac at a high rate of speed northbound on Lower Fort Knox Road near the entrance of Quabache Trails Park when the vehicle left the roadway on the west side and struck a tree head-on. Gillingham was trapped, but his female passenger was not injured and was able to go get help. After Gillingham was extricated from his vehicle he was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, but was later airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville where he is currently being treated for a serious head injury.

During the investigation, troopers discovered open alcohol containers inside the vehicle and a container of prescription pills in Gillingham’s pocket that didn’t belong to him. Troopers believe drugs and alcohol are a contributing factor in this crash. The investigation is continuing.

Investigating Officer: Trooper William Campbell, Indiana State Police
