RE: Alcohol Countermeasures Team

As part of ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of the citizens of Jackson, the Jackson Police Department’s Alcohol Countermeasures Team will be performing increased DUI enforcement throughout the city this Labor Day weekend.

The Labor Day weekend runs from 5:00PM Friday 29 August through
6:00 AM on Tuesday 02 September. Last year during this holiday period the Jackson Police Department investigated sixteen vehicle crashes. Five people were injured and one person lost their life in these crashes. There will be extra officers working to conduct increased DUI enforcement every day during the holiday period. Officers will concentrate their efforts on removing impaired drivers from the roadways before they can cause any unnecessary injuries or deaths.

Motorists are reminded that as non-compliance with the safety belt and child restraint laws place people in danger, these laws will be vigorously enforced as well.

This project funded solely by the Tennessee Governor's Highway Safety Office.
