One Person Injured in I-465 Crash
Indianapolis, IN- An early morning crash this morning between a semi-tractor trailer and a passenger car has injured an Indianapolis man.
Indiana State troopers were dispatched this at approximately 6:11 a.m. to I-465 EB at the 7.2mm on the report of a personal injury crash. Preliminary crash information revealed that Donald J. Cooper, 23, of Indianapolis, was operating a 2003 Honda passenger vehicle EB on I-465 at approximately the 7.2 mm. Issac N. Jefferson, 58, of Delaware, was operating a 2013 Freightliner EB I-465 at the same location. Jefferson was operating at approximately 45 to 50 MPH in the right lane with the emergency flashers operating. Jefferson was moving to the emergency shoulder to check on a possible mechanical problem.
Witness statements indicate that the passenger vehicle was traveling faster than the posted speed limit and swerving through traffic when it unexpectedly ran into the rear of the semi-tractor trailer.
Cooper was transported to Eskenazi Health with leg injuries. Jefferson was not injured. No traffic citations were issued.
Traffic lane restrictions on I-465 EB near Mann Road were experienced for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated and the wreckage cleared.
