The Janesville Police Department Street Crimes Unit working in cooperation with the Rock County Youth 2 Youth program conducted compliance checks at businesses' selling tobacco products within the City of Janesville.
The purpose of the checks was to determine that customers were properly identified prior to the sale of tobacco products. 52 businesses were inspected, at which 5 violations were documented. The violators were issued city ordinance citations for violation of 5.24.020, sale of tobacco to child.
The violations were documented at the following locations;
3222 Humes Rd, T/A Express
2619 Milton Ave, Lions Quick Mart
1804 E. Milwaukee St, Stop N Go
600 W. Milwaukee St, Campbell’s 5 Points Gas Station
1621 W. Court St, J&R Liquor
