Fugitive Burglar In Custody - San Dimas/Covina/Glendora

Fugitive Burglar In Custody

A man who ran from sheriff’s deputies several times over the past week was apprehended this morning, thanks to the keen observation skills of a Glendora police officer.

Tyler Kennan of San Dimas, age 29, was wanted for several vehicle burglaries in the San Dimas, Covina, and Glendora area.  He was also suspected of at least two residential burglaries.  A “no bail” warrant had been issued for his arrest.

At about 10:00 p.m. on Monday, August 26, 2014, deputies spotted Kennan in the 21200 block of Calora Street in the unincorporated area of Covina.  The area west of Valley Center Avenue and Arrow Highway was the subject of a search for about four hours, involving a Sheriff’s helicopter and two Sheriff canine teams.  Kennan was not located inside the search area.

Just after 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2014, a Glendora police officer recognized Kennan as he walked through the parking lot of the Stater Brother’s store north of Arrow Highway, east of Valley Center Avenue.  Kennan ran from the Glendora officer and into the neighborhood south of Arrow Highway, east of Valley Center.  Glendora police initiated a containment of the area, later supplemented by deputies assigned to San Dimas station.  At about 9:50 a.m., Kennan was located by a Sheriff’s canine team.  Kennan had been hiding in a backyard storage shed in the 1400 block of Bentley Court, San Dimas.  When Kennan refused to come out of the shed, he was subsequently bitten in the leg by the canine.  Kennan then surrendered and was arrested for the burglary warrant.  He was booked into L.A. County Jail and held without bail pending a court appearance on August 27, 2014, at Pomona Superior Court.
